Dolomites Climbing Tour
When the heat of summer becomes too much and your local crag is too crowded or too hot to offer relief – a week in the stunning Dolomites is just what you need. Not only does this magical region have long days and mild temperatures, it also offers some of the finest climbing in Europe. If you’ve never seen the Dolomites, you’re in for a surprise – they are unlike any other mountain range. In fact, the Dolomites are different from their very core – they are made of a rock so unique that it was only discovered in recent centuries! Lucky for us, this ‘new’ rock has proven to be excellent for climbing. The Dolomites is a land ruled by rocks. Yes, there are lush meadows, deep forests, alpine lakes and powerful rivers, but what really dominates this landscape are the rocks. They seemingly grow from the ground like giant needles, slicing the landscape wherever you look. No wonder climbing has such solid roots in this region. The climbing areas in the Dolomites are innumerable – from the spectacular Cinque Torre with its 100+ routes, to the prestigious multi-pitches of Falzarego Lagazuoi; from the classic routes of Tofane to the inexhaustible routes at Pomagagnon. There is something for everyone – beginners, experts, sports and traditional climbers alike. We’ll base ourselves in the village of Cortina and explore a different area daily. Our guides know every inch of this region and can assure you access to exactly the type of climbing you require. They can also share their immense knowledge with you – be it helping you improve your technique, teaching you the skills of traditional climbing, or giving you the confidence to lead a climb.

The itinerary for this camp is very simple - a typical day involves climbing, climbing and more climbing! On arrival day we’ll pick you up at the airport in Venice and settle you into our accommodation – a cosy ‘climbers’ lodge. The rest of the day you’ll be free to explore Cortina, check out the local mountain bike trails, or warm-up in the lodge’s bouldering room. In the evening we’ll meet for the first of our many delicious Italian dinners. The next day the climbing begins! There are numerous different areas for us to explore, so where we go on any given day will depend on your interests. The entire day is set aside for as much climbing, guiding and instruction as you like, so it’s up to you how you want to use your time. Given our low instructor to client ratio, we are also very flexible with regard to what you learn. If you’re more of a sports climber looking to work on your technique, each day will be dedicated to providing you with the necessary tips and advice to advance your level and technique. If you’re interested in learning about traditional climbing, we will provide a more structured week – starting with the basics of rope skills, building belays and using nuts, and building towards leading climbs and multi-pitch routes. We’ll take a break day during the week to rest our muscles and to check out the other cool activities available in the region (see activities section). And after each day of climbing those who want to can meet at a local restaurant for some well-earned Italian food. On the final day we’ll drive you back to the airport - it’s over!.
