LOL ... Yeah, well when you've got a few thousand dollars invested in bikes it benefits you to know how to ride them properly ... Between my wife and I we currently have 4 Trek bicycles in our home and I am probably going to be upgrading models again either end of this year or next year.

Mike
P.S. Yes, I'm back and hope to be back for a while. Work got crazy on me all of a sudden.
*BUT* ... I did continue to climb at least 2 days every week, and have made it outdoors once so far. WOO HOO

that SUCKS! do you live in the city? i always worry about that sort of thing b/c there's been a rise in crime in the area recently. at my old place i hung my pack outside my house for ONE night (for various reasons) and it was gone the next morning, with all the cookware and everything. i wasn't too worried becuase it was an OLD external frame pack, so i figured it'd be ok. i'm just mad about the cookware. oh well, just can't trust people anymore.
sorry about your bike. on the flipside, maybe it gives you a good excuse to get a nice new one

Sorry to hear about the bike Davey!
I know how frustrating that is having lost a bike years ago myself. Now as annoying as it is I keep our bikes in our spare bedroom in the house. It is slightly inconvienent to have to bring them in and keep them in but at least we have them when we are ready to ride.
It is a shame that people these days don't have any more respect for the property of other people.

I don't know what you ride, or if you have a preference, but I have 3 Trek bikes and love them.
I've ridden both Trek mountain bikes and Trek road bikes exclusively for about 10 years now and have been extremely satisfied with them.
As you're shopping you might check them out.

those trek bikes are really nice. waaaayyyyyy out of my price range but i could have one in the future. i prefer hardtails too as i think you lose alot of momentom on suspension. the bike i want is the rockrider B-twin. nice quality but still cheap.

Yeah, my current bike has a front shock on it and it isn't too bad, but no way I could go with a full suspension ride.

front shock is good for getting up gutters and stuff, my friend has a full suspension bike and they feel really strange. (even when the suspension is tight) i just dont see how they can fell the road on them.
another thing i hate is seeing people ride round in low gears. they pedal way fast but get no where.

rofl at low gears ... I know what you mean ... I'll gear down some for going uphill but even then not nearly as much as most people. It is funny to see these people cranking away at about 150 strokes per minute going nowhere fast.

It's a lot easier on the knees to spin at high rpms (cadence) like that. Pedaling at lower rpms and using more force is quite hard on your knees.
