Ever heard of Stone Door/Savage Gulf, It's close to Tracy City Tn? If you like trad you'll love the Stone Door area for it classic traditional routes pioneered by vet's like Arno, Bernie, and Mark Ligner, Steve Anderson,Roger Fleming and Kenney Parker. This is a breath taking view from atop the bluff, then you descend a stair case that gives this jewel its name, the Stone Door down to base , where first you come to a short top rope section on the right called the Vanderbilt Wall, then go left following the cliff line to some really nice trad lines like His Majesty 5.4 and Rude Awakening's 5.11a classic thin finger crack. Go alittle farther and you'll see lines like Campsite Dihedral 5.10 and some pretty easy but challenging lines like The Nose 5.5 or Directissma5.5. All these lines are fun but challenging, and the area is really nice!! If you would like more info just let me know and I'll be more than happy to help!!

Brad,
I actually was doing some reading on Stone Door last night and googled directions to it this morning. It is all trad or are there sport routes there as well?
We have been sport climbing for a while now but are just about to start trad climbing for the first time this year. I'm still doing some research on guides, etc trying to find someone to teach us trad climbing.

Brad,
That would be AWESOME! So far the best options I have found involved either going to West Virginia or North Carolina so finding someone local is thrilling.

Brad,

We are excited, but not in a rush so no worries; We have been in the gym for 3+ years now climbing. Outdoors for about 2 years now. Top rope I can flash 5.11a, finish 5.11c and lead sport 5.10b/c.

My wife is coming back off of an arm injury and is currently on top rope 5.10b/c and leading 5.8 sport routes. Before her injury she was leading 5.9 sport.

We are both comfortable cleaning routes and belaying as well. I hope this helps and let me know if you have any more questions I can answer.
