Due to my busy schedule, I don't get that many outdoor excursions, although you'd think with unlimited flight bennefits I'd be gone all the time (go figure). I've only had a few good climbs since starting. The one that I frequent the most is Redwing MN. There is a place called Barns Bluff on the edge of the Miss River. It never get too hot, almost always perfect climbing conditions and routes that range from beginner to intermediate. Its a great place to train, thats where my profile picture was taken. Another place that I like is MtLemmon in Tuscon Az. I did some boulder hoping there a few years ago. Looking back on it now it probably wasn't the smartest move with no safety gear at all, but man what a rush. 450ft to the bottom and there I was with my friend hoping arround like it was second nature. I slipped on my way back down, and got a quick reality check. The next day I bought my first harness, and clean pair of underwear.
Just to take a pole, whats your favorite climb. Indoor or out door it doesn't matter. I just think it might be a neat thread.

after climbing a few disciplines [TR, bouldering, sport, trad] and loving the multipitch climbs [trad or sport, though trad more rewarding], i'd have to say jthat my favorite is still a little TR climb that is un-named as far as i can tell (we've always called it "gotta wear shades"). it's a SWEET dihedral rise to a roof, and you have a few options for routes of various levels (5.8 - ~5.12a depending on which part of the roof or dihedral you take). for some reason my friends and i always have a good time on that one. it's a LOT of fun, and a GREAT view up top when you break the tree line after cranking past the roof, but watch out for that swing!
running a VERY close second is a whole group of routes in the hidden valley of joshua tree. now THAT's some good climbing.

Joshua Tree? I'm jelous. My friend that got me into this sport was a Marine stationed near Joshua tree. He says those are some of the best climbs that he has ever been on, and personally, I'm itching to them out. But there again, my busy schedule. Perhaps this is something that I will put on my Fall to do list for next year.

yeah, it's a LOT of fun out there in j-tree. i went during the winter holiday a year (no... wow, it was 2 yrs!) ago. if i remember correctly the best time is actually during the winter, but i bet late fall would be good too. we had some COLD nights, and PERFECT days, except i brought some of that east coast weather with me and it actually rained in the friggin' desert for a couple of days (on and off throughout the day). apparently it's just too sweltering during the summer.
you are right though, any day on the rock is better than one in the office.
i wish you all my best (seriously) in your efforts to quit smoking as well. i got myself into that mess a few years ago then it was on-and-off trying to quit, until i finally put my foot down. it was definitely uphill to get back out, but persistence and patience did the trick. it wasn't overnight, but one step at a time makes the next step a little easier.

Usually done in the early morning or late afternoon when the sun's rays are not so strong and painful!!
The best thing about rock climbing in Brazil is that the beach is one hour away! whoooooo!!!!

The Philippines is blessed with a lot of rock mountains! alot of limestone! When my aunt and i went there for a christian program, Letty, my aunts friend had told me that she knew rock climbers. I met them and they took me to baguio and montalban. Very good spots!

I liked hawaii better. The Hawaiian Islands really have quality areas with amazing views. Other than that, newly found places sites are continually being discovered and developed. I've been to P.I. too. I liked as well.
The best time to climb over there in the tropics is between November and March, after the rainy season and before the hot summer begins. The no no months are from June to October. One can only imagine how much it rains over there! beautiful island too!

Favorite climb huh? Each climb for me, once you get above 5.6-5.7 brings it own set of unique challenges and experiences that are all fun.
However, with my limited outdoor locations so far, Fall Creek Falls, Foster Falls, King's Bluff, and Obed I would have to say their are 2 routes at Foster falls I always love to climb every trip there.
One is only a 5.8+ sport route that runs up the corner of this face for what seems like forever ... lol ... but has an incredible view from the top. The other is a 5.9+ that runs up diagonally so that you are lowered down probably 40 feet to the left of where the route starts.
I'll have to dig out my guidebook when I get home and see if I can get the name of those two routes and post them.

For me a favorite climb is one that is just fun to climb; That may be because of a particular move on the climb, or the view at the top, etc.
Regardless, it is just a climb that I can get excited about climbing over and over again.
For instance, my two favorites I talked about are a 5.8+ and a 5.9+.
Neither of these are near my climbing limit. I've sport lead routes up to 5.10d and top rope routes up to 5.11d.
Climbing at my limits, working an 5.11d/5.12a route, pushing hard and then finally finishing a route like that give me an excellent since of accomplishment and satisfaction, but doesn't make it into my "favorites" list.
I don't know if that makes much sense, but I tried.

Very true,
I have been climbing for some time now and I'm through pushing so hard and now I just try to climb at my comfort level day-by-day, and its more enjoyable that way!!!

The best climb is finding out whats hiding beyond those rocks! the best is when you bump into streams and such.
