I was just wondering how everyone coils there rope? If your like me I have rope bags for a couple, but I have more than two ropes, so I usually end up coiling at least one of the ropes. Back when I rappelled alot, I would use a mountaineers coil, so it would fit over my pack. Now I mostly climb and I like the butterfly coil, even if I have my pack on. I sling it over my pack and rap it. So, for me, I favor the butterfly coil. If anyone needs info on this coil, I will gladly explain the process.

"butterfly coil" aka "backpack coil"
that's pretty much the only one i use. i'm so cheap i don't even have a rope bag, just a rope tarp that i got from somebody else who didn't want it anymore. (heh)

I hate coiling rope. My rope is fairly new so it always wants to twist while coiling it. I usually just stuff it in my pack, comes out nice and clean.

Learn the butterfly coil, it is the easiest way to keep your rope managable.
