I just have a question regarding big guys. Do you they have more potential in rock climbing because they are tall?

by saying big, you mean tall? i guess they have an advantage in terms of reach because their arms are probably longer so are their legs. they can easily grasp those which shorter people could not

It all depends on the route/problem. I've set some competition climbs which were VERY difficult for tall people. Kids love it when they can do a bouldering problem that older kids/adults can't do because of their height. It's also easy to set route/problems which shorter people can't do because of reach. Some people are talented at slopers, crimpers, pinches, stemming, small pockets... and other have difficulties with them. That's the great thing about climbing. The variety of climbs/problems and climbers.

What is everyone calling tall/heavy. I am 5'11" 200lbs, definatly not tall but maybe on the heavy side. Heavy being heavy not a polite way of saying fat.

Im 6' 4" 215 and find it both frustrating and nice. bouldering sucks cause usually im hunkered down and can jump and finish the problem. on longer routes its nice cause i can reach those holds that my shorter friends cant, making it easier.

Your 6'2" and 215 @ 11 years old? That's going by your age on your profile.

Tall has the reach advantage, but shorter has the advatage when you get tucked or feet are high and close to your hands. Smearing eliminates the reachy issue. Good technique is the secret :) Just look at Robyn Ebersfield, she is 5 foot or so and one of the best climbers ever!

Poeple like Lynn Hill (5.4)that are short can suck up into a tight spot, like going from a vertical climb to a overhanging one. Tall people can make one move on a climb, where as a short person may have to make two. As far as the weight issue, that doesn't matter. I know of some climbers that I see at the crag that are tall and heavy and they climb very well. So I don't think the weight/tall thing is the issue.

Hero,
That picture was taken at Summersville Lake, WV near the New River Gorge.
