I'm new you New York City and wanted to head upstate to practice climbing with a friend of mine, Dan Howitt, I think he's a member here. I'll search. He's many levels more experienced. I wonder if I should find someone less experienced. Didn't know if I might get pushed to far. Kinda nervous.
Howitt said he was going to get more info on his website Dan Howitt. Huh guess hyperlinks don't work here. It's http://www.myspace.com/danhowitt

I wouldn't worry about the difference in skill level. You guys are friends right? He can teach you alot. If he's o.k. with the difference, forget about it. You could learn from him.

no man climb with ppl who are better then you and just try what they are doing. if you fail who cares go on to something easier, but when you go back and you can finally do that hard route, it'll feel great.

Yea that's true. The more experienced your climbing partner is, the faster you learn the basics...and to a certain extent even the advanced moves/techniques.
The great thing about climbing with an experienced partner is that you see first hand how good technique can get you up top with less physical effort. I've learned a lot from seasoned climbers, and they're always willing to help you search for a better method of reaching the top
