Hello everyone, i am new to rock climbing, i have never done it before and I thought i would start by joining here and getting some information from some of you seasoned climbers. I live in upstate New York and I was wondering if anyone would happen to know where I could go for some start up classes

I am pretty sure that there are plenty of guides at the Gunks it is
just going to cost some change. I t is however well worth it. If you
have the opportunity start outdoors you will learn a lot about rigging
that way.
hey! i'm new to rock climbing also. i've found that bouldering is just about the best way to learn moves before you get on a big wall. i hope this helps!

Is this a college course or are you in the military currently?
I didn't do much climbing while in the military but they did get me started rappelling.

If you want good advice, this site falls gravely short. I do however like the animated sections. Rock Climbing.com is a good start. Climbing.com...
If your in the Santa Cruz area, check out the "world recognized "PacificEdgeClimbingGym.com", a day here is more than a lifetime of "supermember" advice.:-)
We all have to remember that America is a divided country, ex; I have lived in the eastern US, as well as Mid America, but to describe to westerners what a different(repressive, regressive, depressing, primitive, limited, ignorant) place the eastern US is, well, is futile. This is not a statement but a fact, sorry to say. The US is something to discover, can you imagine the world...
