Photography and Climb to Mount Kilimanjaro

Photography and Climb to Mount Kilimanjaro
Known as Africa's highest peak, Mount Kilimanjaro is a great destination not just for hundreds of tourists each year but for experienced hikers and mountain climbers as well. But like all natural wonders, this majestic scenery is never without its challenges.

Located in Tanzania, Mount Kilimanjaro rests easy at 5,985 meters or 19,341 feet high. This mount was formed by three separate and inactive volcanoes: Kibo, Shira and Mawenzi. But the subject of most Mount Kilimanjaro photography and climbing expeditions is not just limited to its scenic view from the top. On the base lies a tropical rainforest rich with the beauties of flora and fauna. And as you traverse higher, you will be greeted by the alpine desert on your way to the icy glacier blanket of the mountain top.

If you're looking for an extraordinary climb, Mount Kilimanjaro's highest point, Uhuru is bound to challenge you in more ways than one. Though considered to be the world's tallest walkable mountain, the trip is physically demanding and requires a great deal of will power to achieve successfully. The high altitude alone can cause extreme headaches, dizziness, nausea and vomiting, among other things for those who are not physically fit to undertake such a climb.

The best times to take a trip up this mountain are early or in the middle of the year, January and February as well as September to October, when the climate is at its driest and warmest. There are a variety of trails you can opt to take depending on your difficulty level.

The most famous trail to the top is the Marangu trail. It's the easiest most popular walking route to the top. Though considered to also be the fastest trail to reach the top, the steep ascend can also be difficult for some climbers who needs to get used the altitude. More difficult trails such as Machame, Umbwe, Limosho, and Shira are also available.

Regardless of what trail you take, patience would be your greatest ally during the climb. Mount Kilimanjaro tours require you to take your ascend in a very slow pace. "Polepole" which is Swahili for "slowly" is the ultimate principle in conquering such heights. Otherwise, you'll be risking yourself a great deal of physical complications along the way.

Despite whatever difficulty you may encounter during this one long climb, not a single minute of it goes to waste. Reaching the top of the mountain rewards you with a breathtaking view unlike any other that will surely make the journey truly worth it.
