Facts About Rock Climbing in Mount Kenya

Facts About Rock Climbing in Mount Kenya Kenya is located in east Africa and has a size that is twice of Nevada's. It is bordered by Ethiopia, Tanzania, Uganda, Somalia, and Sudan. Of course, Mount Kenya can be found here – a stratovolcano covered by an ice cap for thousands of years. It is Africa's second highest mountain next to Kilimanjaro. Nelion, Batian, and Point Lenana are three of the mountain's utmost summits.

Glaciers, lakes, springs, plains, endangered species, forest. Those are the reasons why visitors cannot help but be in awe at the sight of Mount Kenya. However, there are those who want more and challenge themselves to get to the mountain's pinnacle spot, a deed involving an extensive rock climbing ability. April to June and October to December are the seasons when rain attacks the area, so it is best to spend your vacation outside those months. No worries for guests yearning to take pleasure in the mountain's atmosphere - the magnificent, peaceful, serene sights – because there are several hotels that can be found downhill.

It is wise to go on a rock climbing training on other minor mountains before going up Mount Kenya. Once you have conditioned your strength, then you can take on these three central routes on your way up:

Chogoria. This is said to have the picturesque setting among the three and also the most exciting one with the view of vertical cliffs, the Lake Michaelson, and the Gorges Valley.

Naro Moru. Featuring the renowned "Vertical Bog" or a sharp swamp of soaked highlands, this route is the most common initial point for most climbers. It is apparently the fastest and easiest way up.

Sirimon. Located on the waterless or dry part of the mountain, this route's approach involves fitness as it requires a minimum of five days to be completed. It gives you the chance to witness the Yellowwood forest and such a plentiful natural world. However, adventurers still use this least as compared to the other two.

These are only a few facts about Kenya. You may also choose to extend your climb with a safari escapade or a hiking experience or even a beach break. You'll never run out of things to do and amazing discoveries to learn in this side of Africa.
