Why Go Rock Climbing in Mount Sinai?
Who would not have an idea about the Biblical Mount Sinai - the historic place where the Ten Commandments were handed over to Moses by God? Miraculous, concealed, bewitching - that's just how they describe the place. Because aside from its religious history, it is also a home to many adventurers, especially hikers and climbers. But what is in its summit that inspires them to aim higher? Well, atop this mountain is a chapel and a mosque. Sadly though, they were never open for tourists. Nevertheless, people remain curious and still go there. Perhaps, they are being called to do so. Or maybe, they just really welcome the challenge and the chance!
The rocks of Mt. Sinai are consist of alkaline granites. To reach the pinnacle, a climber has two routes to choose from. First option is to go for a 2 to 3-hour walk or even a camel ride through Siket El Bashait. The other one is through Siket Sayidna Musa. This is more abrupt than the former but is considered the shortest way to take - that is, if you want to consider what they call the 3,750 steps of penitence. But hey, what is there to lose anyway when you will get a rewarding and blessed experience afterwards?
Below are specific reasons proving why Mt. Sinai is worth your time for rock climbing:
- Unlike some of the popular trails that we are familiar with, this one is recommended for straight out beginners. Want to know a more surprising fact? Mount Sinai is also convenient even for kiddos. So you don't have to worry about leaving them behind on your next trip!
- The view from the top of Mt. Sinai provides a serene view of sunrise and sunset, which is very much incomparable to others. Make sure you are on proper schedule to catch a glimpse of those occurrences.
- Another Biblical location, The Red Sea, is just around the corner. It will definitely make your holiday itinerary complete if you pay these two a visit.
- The weather on this side of the world is convenient for traveling all throughout the year.
Those are just some of the many reasons why you should see the historical Mount Sinai. We have enough holidays to celebrate a day-out. So start preparing for the next one; the mountains and valleys here are not worth a second thought!
