Thursday, 22 December 2005Join the Crankin' the New Year competition at Rocknasium in Davis, California on January 28, 2006.
The competition is said to be the longest-standing competition in the west. If you're interested in competing, Rocknasium made sure to lay-out a challenging and invigorating course just for you! Thursday, 22 December 2005Take advantage of the Special Open Hours at any Earth Trek Climbing Center in Maryland on Christmas and New Year’s Eve. Special open hours will be 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Christmas Eve, also in Dec. 26 through Friday, Dec. 30 from 12 p.m. – 4 p.m.
Try out climbing with the whole family between the short holiday breaks at any Earth Trek Climbing Center. Each climb will only cost $5 each inc lusive of equipment. No registration is required. However, climbers below 18 years old must have a parent or guardian with them and sign a waiver.

Practice your climbing skills at high altitude (at or around 9,000 feet) with the new Colorado Exercise Room™ (CER), a joint project of Colorado Altitude Training™ (CAT) and Boulder Rock Club in Mapleton Ave.
, Boulder, CO. With this exercise room, climbers can easily practice their abilities, prepare for upcoming climbs, and many more.
The CER is the first simulated altitude training environment that is available in the Rocky Mountain Region. Moreover, the public gets to use it for free until January 15, 2006. There are a number of advantages in training in the CER. These benefits include:

- Increase in endurance*
- Increase in power*
- Increase in speed*

The Adirondack International Mountaineering Festival is now back for its tenth year, thanks to The Mountaineer and Adirondack International Mountaineering Festival. The festival will be held on January 13-1
5, the Martin Luther weekend.
The festival is a non-profit event that will benefit local charities. In this event, prominent mountaineers will hold clinics on different important aspects of climbing. Participants will also be able to try out new climbing gear on an ice wall which is specially constructed for the event. Moreover, a spaghetti feed will be readied for the participants at the Keene Valley Fire Department that will be followed by a slideshow.
The event’s major sponsors are Patagonia and Marmot. In addition, the festival is also sponsored by Koflach, Petzl, Black Diamond, Outdoor Research, Cloudveil, Patagonia, Vasque, Grivel, La Sportiva, Mammutt, and Trango. Monday, 12 December 2005Have fun bouldering and help out kids with cancer by joining the American Cancer Society’s (ACS) Holiday Pumpathon on December 17 at the Circuit Gym in Portland, OR.
The proceeds from the competition will benefit Camp Ukandu, an ACS camp for kids who are stricken with cancer. There will be an entrance fee of $20 for members while non-members will have to pay $25. The first 50 people to join will receive a free t-shirt. Afterwards, there will be beer and a party for everyone who attends the event.
