Thrombi X-fest to be Held Feb. 18 and 19

MONDAY, 6 FEBRUARY 2006

The annual Thrombi X-Fest is back and will be held on February 18 and 19 at the Thrombosis Gorge, Underberg in KZN. The event is an extreme sports festival with six extreme sport disciplines. Register now, test your limits, and at the same time get the media attention you so richly deserve with this extreme sports bonanza!

Participants will compete in the following disciplines:

X-Treme Kayaking Groups of five competitors will battle their way down 1500 metres of class 4 white water.Moreover, the second part of the kayaking event is the waterfall rodeo. In this portion, the participants will perform tricks off the 10-meter Thrombosis Falls.

Speed Climbing For this year, event organizers will hold a speed climbing competition instead of a bouldering competition like last year. Groups of two climbers will race up a 10 meter climbing wall on the night of the Saturday X-treme party.

Downhill Mountain biking Participants will ride down the rough and battered gulley on the mountain overlooking the central field. Competitors will then finish off their race with a big air execution in front of the crowd.

Paragliding This new addition to the X-fest will have participants racing from Bulwer Mountain to the central field. First one to arrive gets all the cool prizes!

Mountain biking X-country Guaranteed to be exhausting, exhilarating and exciting, the Mountain Biking X-country will sure capture the crowd AND the media's attention. Participants will have to do their very best!

X-Treme Multi Sport Competitors will need all the strength and endurance they could muster up in this challenging multi sport event. In this division, participants will paddle 7km down Thrombosis Gorge, descent 10 meters of Thrombosis Gorge, run out of a gorge and back to the central field with a kayak on their back and 15 kilometers of mountain bike leg.
