Big City Mountaineers Need You!
MONDAY, 27 MARCH 2006
Sure, summer is still several months away, but it is always good to plan ahead. Aside from that, it is even better if you can do a good deed by spending your time helping needy teenagers.
This early, the non-profit organization Big City Mountaineers (BCM) is already looking for 200 volunteers to help in its mentoring programs in July and August. Some of the trips will take the teens and the volunteers alike to places like the Cascades, Sierra Madre and the Rocky Mountains.
Mountaineering is a physically demanding task, but much of the weight of the organization's program lies mostly on the teens emotional growth. According to their website at www.bigcitymountaineers.org, the teens, “progress along an emotional journey that leaves many transformed with a greater sense of selves.”
For more information about volunteering for BCM's program, you may contact BCM's Volunteer Manager, Erin Sovick, by calling him at 303-271-9200 ext. 4 or by e-mailing him at esovick@bigcitymountaineers.org.
