Rock climbing clinic on Sunday

A rock climbing clinic sponsored by Sioux City Parks and Recreation and the group Recreation, Education, Adventure, Leadership will be Sunday at the Long Lines Family Rec Center.
From noon to 7 p.m., professional climbing guides Darrel Stisser, owner and operator of Sylvan Rocks in the South Dakota Black Hills, and Mark Greno of AMGA Guides will be conducting programs on basic and advanced rock climbing techniques. The schedule is:
Noon - 2 p.m. -- workshop for beginning climbers;
2 - 3 p.m. -- presentation of areas guided by Sylvan Rocks;
3 - 5 p.m. -- workshop for advanced climbers;
5 - 7 p.m. -- open gym for climbers who attended the workshops, with staff from REAL and Long Lines available for questions and coaching. You can also test to become belay-certified.
The cost to attend one workshop and the presentation is $15, and $25 for both workshops and and the presentation.
Feel free to bring your own harness and gear, although harnesses will be available for use at no charge and shoes rent for $3 a pair. Waivers will be required if you do not have one on file. Come early to fill out a waiver or download one online at www.sioux-city.org.
