Gritstone Season Begins with E7 Ascents

The week-long Gritstone Season started with E7 ascents from Lucinda Hughes’s Deathwatch (E7 6b) climb in Ilkley, Yorkshire to Pete Robbins and James Chaffee’s Masters Edge (E7 6c) climbs in Millstone.

Starting the season on Thursday, Hughes’s ascent was excellent. Come Friday, Lucy Creamer made a trio of ascents at Millstone in the Peak District with a Toploader (E7 6c).

Meanwhile, Robbins finished his climb of the Master Edge in his second try after surviving a fall from high up on his first one. McHaffie, on the other hand, was almost a few moves off the top when he realized he was slightly bleeding and decided to downclimb the route. After 20 minutes, he went back and finished a complete no-fall ascent.
