She also enjoys BASE-jumping, skydiving, and wingsuit flying with her husband, fellow climber and prAna athlete Dean Potter.

Wednesday, 30 April 2008The Solid Rock Climbers for Christ (SRCFC) will hold the 2008 National Conference on August 5 - 10 at the Rocky Mountain National Park.
At the National Conference, you will get to know Solid Rockers from across the country, receive teaching from the National Director on evangelism, experience worship & devotionals, and hang out and climb together. With the stellar bouldering and alp ine climbing available in Rocky Mountain National Park and the trad and sport climbing areas at Lumpy Ridge and other crags the Estes Park area, everyone can find some climbing to do.

Calvin Landrus is the National Director SRCFC and started climbing in 1978. He as climbed almost all major rock climbing areas in the USA.

- Suggested Program Donation: $50.00 per adult (This is to cover program costs; for participants at any level except for children, teens, and students. This is a suggested donation and does not require you to attend.)
- Camping Costs: $5.00 per night (for use of reserved sites at Glacier; those at Lover's Leap will pay when they get a site.)
- Payment Options: Mail in a check, use PayPal or pay at the event. After registering, you will have a chance to pay via Email and PayPal or Check and Mail.
- Reservation deadline: one week before the conference
- Your Responsibility: You are responsible for coordinating with someone to climb with (you will receive a list of participants and climbing objectives), your camping equipment and all your meals (you will have a chance to sign up to be in a cooking group)!

Tuesday, 29 April 2008The International Mountaineering and Climbing Federation (UIAA) now has another new and great way to further advance the spirit of sportsmanship and friendship - the UIAA Global Youth Summit 2008. Events like this serve as a venue for the youth to meet new friends, be more aware of environmental issues, and appreciate their favorite sports.
The Global Youth Summit 2008 will begin wit h 'Discovering the cliffs of Demir Kapija-a climbing and route setting Meet' on July 1 to 7. This camp in Demir Kapija is for climbers who are 16-19 years old. It features 100 routes and opportunities for opening more than 1000 new routes. Limestone is the type of rock to climb on up to 400m high and is divided into five areas, 300m across. The activities in this meet include climbing, bolting, training in setting new routes, social activities, and a Rock Festival. The cost is 230 Euros, inclusive of accommodation, meals, and airport transfer.

Monday, 28 April 2008The Fourth Annual Kismet Jubilee is coming to Cranmore Mountain Resort in North Conway on May 17. Sponsored this year by RE/MAX Presidential-Drummond & Drummond and Badger Realty, the Jubilee is a celebration of community, climbing, and Kismet.
"This year's Jubilee promises to be the best ever," says Sarah Garlick, Kismet Board member. "We have a spacious venue at Cranmore Mountain R esort, excellent food from White Mountain Cider Company, and some very exciting auction items to offer."
Auction items include a scenic plane flight, a SOLO Wilderness First Responder course, local art, handmade furniture, outdoor gear and clothing, and much more.
The Kismet Rock Stars will also offer live music throughout the evening. Band members include Mary Bastoni, Molly Campbell, Chelsea Laguerre (Kismet Student), Zebulon Jakub, Mike Jewell, Alain Comeau, Tony Iorfino, and Mitch Scher.
"All of us involved in the planning are delighted to be hosting such a fun and meaningful event for our friends and community," says Garlick. "Plus, it’s the one night of the year all of the climbers in town get dressed up!"

Friday, 25 April 2008The BMC Peak Area Youth Coordinator will hold a climbing event for parents and young climbers. It will be held on Saturday, May 31, from 10am to 4pm.
Admission to the event is free. This is an opportunity for parents and their children who like rock climbing to meet other families with the same interests and also ask advice and guidance from experts who will be present in the event. Though there will be no formal training during the day, local expert climbers will be there to assist the participants in the activity.
To complete a day of fun and adventure, there will be free BBQ for all participants and volunteers.
