TUESDAY, 29 APRIL 2008
Submitted By: Edmund Jadol

The International Mountaineering and Climbing Federation (UIAA) now has another new and great way to further advance the spirit of sportsmanship and friendship - the UIAA Global Youth Summit 2008. Events like this serve as a venue for the youth to meet new friends, be more aware of environmental issues, and appreciate their favorite sports.

The Global Youth Summit 2008 will begin with 'Discovering the cliffs of Demir Kapija-a climbing and route setting Meet' on July 1 to 7. This camp in Demir Kapija is for climbers who are 16-19 years old. It features 100 routes and opportunities for opening more than 1000 new routes. Limestone is the type of rock to climb on up to 400m high and is divided into five areas, 300m across. The activities in this meet include climbing, bolting, training in setting new routes, social activities, and a Rock Festival. The cost is 230 Euros, inclusive of accommodation, meals, and airport transfer.
