Climber Laura Crump Wins at State Bouldering Event

Indoor rock climber Laura Crump bagged first place in her age group and finished fourth place in the open event at the State Bouldering Championships held over the weekend.

According to 16-year old Crump, she first discovered indoor rock climbing through a promotional display when her family went to Fairfield City markets and found a mobile climbing wall.

Crump won first place in her age group at the National Bouldering Championships in 2007. The young climber had also bagged gold and bronze medals in the National Difficulty and Speed Championships which took place earlier this year.

Crump will head to Sydney, Australia to participate in the World Youth Championships in August.
