Deep-water Soloing at Flaming Gorge Reservoir
SUNDAY, 13 JULY 2008
Submitted By: Diane Vee Hormillada
Last weekend, a climbing group called Rock Springs crew of 307 Bouldering climbed the Flaming Gorge Reservoir through deep-water soloing or psicobloc.
In this rock climbing type, the climber aims to scale long and difficult routes and does not use ropes or pads, but relies only on the lake below the climb to protect him or her against injury. The technique is said to have been popularized in Southern England way back in 1960s and 1970s.
The Flaming Gorge Reservoir is situated on the Green River in Utah and Wyoming.
