U Climb to Host Rock Climbing Event in River Gorge

U Climb, an organization aiming to bring people closer to the outdoors by teaching rock climbing, will be hosting a two-day rock climbing event in Red River Gorge, KY., on September 13-14.

Sponsored by Mountain Gear and Mountain Hardware, the U-Climb event will consist of professional climbing instruction from Red River Outdoor guides. Participants will be divided into small small groups to get hands-on rock climbing experience and will be taught on different climbing techniques, voice commands, knot tying, belaying, and others.

Registration for the event begins at $159 for youth ages 10-17 and $199 for adults. Registration covers professional climbing instruction, camping for two days, a barbeque on Saturday and a pancake breakfast on Sunday. Packages with basic climbing gears such as shoes, harness, belay device, helmet, locking carabineer and a chalk bag will also be offered. Gear packages are $289 for youth ages 10-17 and $329 for adults.
