Climb Outside! Rock Climbing Classes Schedule

THURSDAY, 12 MARCH 2009
Submitted By: Sherwin Mapanoo

One of the greatest challenges that individuals who wish to learn how to rock climb outside face is that they do not know how to get started. The task seems too large to them as they realize that they do not know how to build climbing anchors, set up climbing ropes, or safely ascend a rock face.

Taught by Ascent Adventure Consultants' professional rock climbing guides, the Climb Outside! Rock Climbing Classes are designed to introduce people in an comfortable, informal manner, to rock climbing outside. The classes are held in three two-hour sessions at a local coffee shop, and the class then concludes with a day of rock climbing at a local cliff, namely Pilot Mountain in North Carolina, to put all the newly acquired skills, knowledge, and technique into practice. The classes will cover rock climbing knot tying, anchor building, belaying, rappelling, rescuing, ascending technique, and more.

"We are eager to teach people how to climb outside. I have talked to many people who are nervous to sign up for one of our rock climbing courses because they don't know enough about the sport," says Ascent Adventure Consultants founder and guide Brandon Hensinger. "These classes give people who want to climb outside a foundation of skills and techniques that will make them feel confident when out on the rock."

The Raleigh NC based Climb Outside Classes will be held April 1, 8, and 15 from 6:30-8:30pm at Caribou Coffee on Duraleigh Rd in Raleigh NC. The culmination of the class will be April 18 at Pilot Mountain in NC. The cost of the course is $200.00 per person, and that includes all four classes, equipment, and guiding.
