Stamford, CT - Located in southwest Colorado, Ouray has plenty of ice terrain where hundreds of the world's most accomplished ice climbers as well as recreational climbers will congregate January 7-10, 2010 for the annual Ouray Ice Festival. Amid the festival-like atmosphere will be the LOWA boots tent, stocked with demo product for ice climbers to check out. Participants will be assured of an ex cellent fit with ice-climbing-legends-turned-bootfitters for the week-end, Freddy Grossiklaus and Ines Papert.

LOWA invites festival participants to demo their world-class, German mountaineering boots including the Mountain Expert, Ice Comp IP and Silberhorn models. After Freddy and Ines help out with boot-fitting, they will be on-hand to share climbing techniques on the mountain. Freddy is a world-renowned IFMGA certified mountain guide, examiner, teacher, ski instructor, and ski touring guide and has taught at Ouray for the past five years. Ines was instrumental in designing LOWA's Ice Comp IP GTX and has, simply put, "kicked ass" in the climbing world with an impressive number of European and World Championships.

The Ouray Ice Festival is an international gathering of ice climbing competitors, gear suppliers, and ice climbers of all levels of competence. Events include competitions, various climbing clinics from beginning to advanced, and the opportunity to check out and try the latest gear while catching up with some of the world’s most famous and experienced climbers.

For more information, call the U.S. LOWA office at 800-335-LOWA.

New York, NY - According to the recently-released Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC) statement, Climbing Magazine (climbing.com) recorded an average per-issue circulation of 42,343 for the first half of 2009; this delivers 6% bonus circulation over the average circulation stated at the start of the year - equivalent to an additional 23,430 copies.

Climbing's 6% bonus circulation is in
contrast to the performance of the number-two magazine in the same category, Rock & Ice. According to Rock & Ice's Statement of Ownership published in its January 2010 issue, the magazine's average circulation per-issue in 2009 was 24,778, 18% short of the circulation commitment made in the magazine’s media kit at the start of the year. Rock & Ice’s shortfall is equivalent to 47,673 less copies in circulation.

Climbing Magazine's average per issue circulation - the only ABC-audited circulation in the category - has exceeded 40,000 copies every year for the last two-years - having grown 19 percent between 2007 and 2009. Over the same period, Rock & Ice magazine-s average circulation has fallen 9% to 24,778.

North Vancouver, B.C., - Management and staff at Arc'teryx Equipment Inc. are deeply saddened by the death of Guy Lacelle at the Bozeman Ice Festival. Sources say Lacelle was swept off a climb by an avalanche that occurred around 9:30 a.m. He leaves behind his beloved wife Marge and his constant companion, his dog Jade.

A two-time winner of the Ouray Ice Festival climbing competition,
Lacelle's accomplishments earned him the Banff Centre for Mountain Culture’s prestigious Summit of Excellence Award.

John Irvine, newly-named Director of International Sales, says, "Guy was a great, great person. He epitomized dignity and integrity. His Zen climbing style was peaceful, relaxed, and smooth; and he was always happy and positive. His passion for adventure and drive to see and explore new places and cultures made Guy a real pioneer, and his charming personality made him a pleasure to work with. Guy's real magic was his passion for sharing the sport. He was a regular at the festivals; teaching clinics and passing on his wisdom."

"I am deeply saddened by this loss, yet I will take comfort that I had his friendship, and we at Arc'teryx had the opportunity to work with such a rare and wonderful person," said Irvine.
