LOWA Invites Ouray Ice Festival Participants

WEDNESDAY, 23 DECEMBER 2009
Submitted By: Sherwin Mapanoo

Stamford, CT - Located in southwest Colorado, Ouray has plenty of ice terrain where hundreds of the world's most accomplished ice climbers as well as recreational climbers will congregate January 7-10, 2010 for the annual Ouray Ice Festival. Amid the festival-like atmosphere will be the LOWA boots tent, stocked with demo product for ice climbers to check out. Participants will be assured of an excellent fit with ice-climbing-legends-turned-bootfitters for the week-end, Freddy Grossiklaus and Ines Papert.

LOWA invites festival participants to demo their world-class, German mountaineering boots including the Mountain Expert, Ice Comp IP and Silberhorn models. After Freddy and Ines help out with boot-fitting, they will be on-hand to share climbing techniques on the mountain. Freddy is a world-renowned IFMGA certified mountain guide, examiner, teacher, ski instructor, and ski touring guide and has taught at Ouray for the past five years. Ines was instrumental in designing LOWA's Ice Comp IP GTX and has, simply put, "kicked ass" in the climbing world with an impressive number of European and World Championships.

The Ouray Ice Festival is an international gathering of ice climbing competitors, gear suppliers, and ice climbers of all levels of competence. Events include competitions, various climbing clinics from beginning to advanced, and the opportunity to check out and try the latest gear while catching up with some of the world’s most famous and experienced climbers.

For more information, call the U.S. LOWA office at 800-335-LOWA.
