2010 24 Hours of Gunnison's Glory

Prepare yourself for an epic day trying to bag as many routes as your body and mind will allow. Food, water, tape, superglue, sunscreen, etc. Once you feel prepared, show up with 1-5 of your favorite climbing partners May 29th 2010 at Hartman Rocks Recreation Area and celebrate rock climbing for the next 24 hours in whatever fashion you see fit. Our 8000+ acres City/Count/BLM managed park offers climbers a variety of traditional, mixed, sport and boulder routes and event participants will be introduced to over 200 routes for their picking. Join us in Gunnison, CO for your 2010 Memorial Day weekend (May 28-30th) and experience the feeling and words of Climbing Magazine Editor Matt Samet, "pitch after pitch, 24 hours, climbing and climbing, that thing we do because it’s the best thing there is."

And of course to put it more simply, challenge yourself to come climb in an amazing atmosphere for 24 hours and see how long you last!!!

Schedule of Events

May 28th 2010
1. Friday Day Entertainment/Early Bird Check-in IOOF Park/Virginia St., Downtown Gunnisonbegins 4pm goes til 9pm. Music in the Park: TBA
2. Friday Night Presentations

May 29th 2010
1. Base Area: 7am-12pm MeetNGreet, Shuttle Service and directing up the hill
2. Buddha's Area: 9:30-10am– Official Check-In, Q&A, Rules, and Official Start10am
3. Climbing Begins 10am Saturday May 29th and ends and ends 10am Sunday May 30th. Enjoy the Heat!!!
4. Entertainment will be sporadic and random, but will be playing as much as possible (Spoken Word, Djembe Drumming, Live Aucostic Music)
5. Dinner is served at 8pm, what will it be?
6. Climber Check-In #1 8pm to 12pm
7. Youth Climbing Ends 10pm
8. Night Patrol Begins at 11pm-5pm

May 30th 2010
1. Slacklining Expedition and Fun 8am til whenever
2. Climber Check-In #2 5-10am
3. Endurance Climbing Fest Ends 10am Sunday
4. Post Fest Activities Begin 10am-12pm (Yoga, Acroyoga, more to come!!!)
5. Awards Ceremony 12pm-1pm

The Cause:
Any and all proceeds from the 24 hours of Gunnison Glory 2010 will be invested into the creation and security of the Gunnison Valley Climbers Coalition, to help secure the future of climbing in Gunnison County. On top of working for the Gunnison County this Coalition will offer Gunnison County Climbers a voice among other Climbers Coalitions and organizations throughout the great state of Colorado and beyond our borders.
