Climbing Classes
Intro to climbing class: Time 90 minutes The Intro to Climbing Class is a class intended to introduce the beginning climber to the basics of top rope climbing. The student will learn the proper ways to use the climbing equipment (harness, belay device), safety aspects to climbing, proper way to tie the figure eight know and proper belaying techniques. The climber will also learn basic climbing technique, foot placement, body position and movement. The instructor will also explain the rating system used in climbing. Each lesson is tailored to the students abilities after the basic structure is covered.
Climbing Basics Class: Time 90 minutes for 2 days The Climbing Basics class are instructed like the Intro to Climbing Class, but added to the outline the student is taught on the second class about the aspects involved with Bouldering as well as Rope climbing. The bouldering portion consists of safety aspects of bouldering, Dynamic vs. Static movement, proper technique used in bouldering. Also the instructor covers rating system in Bouldering compaired to Rope Climbing. This class is also individually tailored to the climbers abilites.
YCP (Youth Certification Program) Class: 2hrs The YCP Class is designed for youth ages 12-15 yrs old who wish to be able to belay and be able to climb with out an adult present at the climbing facility. In the class the youth learns all the safety aspects of climbing, including proper way to wear a harness, using a belay device, and proper way to tie a knot. At the completion of the class the student is given a written test on all the aspect of the class.
Lead Climbing Class: Time 2hrs for two days The Lead Climbing Class is designed for the climber who wishes to learn how to lead climb. The class covers all the safety aspect intailed in lead climbing which includes the proper way to clip into a quick draw, proper clipping positions and how to do a dynamic catch. The climber will also learn techniques useful to lead climbing and how to properly maintain a lead rope. The lead climbing class includes the certification to be able to lead climb in the Facility.
