The Petzl GriGri 2 is a compact and ultra-light belay device. Working equally well for lead climbing and top roping, the GriGri 2 may be used on all single dynamic ropes 8.9-11 mm. This device also has assisted braking capability: during fall arrest, the belayer holds the free end of the rope, the cam pivots and pinches the rope, increasing the braking action until the rope stops sliding. The construction includes a stainless steel friction plate and cam to extend the life of the device. The Petzl GriGri 2 is 25% smaller and 20% lighter than the GriGri. The belay device also includes engraved diagrams for rope installation.
