Petzl's Basic is an extremely lightweight and compact ascender that's perfect for keeping in your pack. This rope clamp/grab has a chrome-plated steel cam with inclined teeth and self-cleaning slots that provide an excellent grip on wet, icy or muddy ropes. Its ergonomic spring-loaded catch allows you to hold the cam in the open position, while also facilitating one-handed installation and removal.
